A Belgian success story heads to Dubai
When an established name from the Belgian HR world asked us to take on their success story in Dubai, we seized that international opportunity straight away. After all, building a brand for an entirely new market demands a considered vision. The Gulf region has its own distinct codes, which made this fantastic project quite challenging right from the start.
The decision to take it on was made quickly. Not because it would be a simple assignment, but because we believed in the power of local content. That is why our visuals team travelled to Dubai to create content aimed specifically at this new market. A very bold step, because the cultural differences of the target audience called for a highly specific approach.
Visual content across cultural borders
Practically speaking, producing visuals on location was an intensive undertaking that required meticulous planning in advance. Our team had to switch gears quickly under the blazing sun, scout locations and determine the right settings. This created an extremely tight rhythm on set, where every minute had to be used to the fullest. The short lines of communication with our office in Bruges enabled fast feedback loops during all the reviews. This allowed the team on location to respond immediately and highly effectively.
Culturally, this foreign production was considerably more challenging than we had expected. It was not just about language, but above all about the specific cultural differences of the local target audience. We had to really understand how to frame the content in order to make a genuine impact. By listening carefully and observing closely, we discovered how to strike the right chord in Dubai.
The lessons we learned in the Gulf region
For us, the biggest lesson lay not only in the beautiful content, but in how we recalibrated our international processes. Working for a trusted Belgian client in a completely new environment forced us to thoroughly test and document all of our assumptions. What flows organically at home around briefings and quality checks now had to be set down more rigorously on paper. This has structurally strengthened the day-to-day operation of our agency.
For this client, we delivered a visual story that fits perfectly on a local level while beautifully reflecting Belgian values. For ourselves, it was a valuable blueprint for future international projects. Pushing boundaries is not about big words on a website; it is about listening intensively, daring to travel and building locally. We do it step by step, and this milestone in Dubai opens the door to more.
